This vineyard is north facing giving a sunny aspect. The gentle slope allows good drainage of cool spring air and alleviates frost risk. The slope and northerly aspect aids air movement for disease control and ripening. Compost and mulch has recently been applied to 10 ha to increase organic matter, nutrients and aid soil moisture retention. A 70,000 m3 water storage dam, plus shares in the Blind River Irrigation scheme ensure water is available all year and frost protection is in place. Contact Ken McLeod for further information.
