Carl Van Der Meer

You couldn’t meet a more likeable and knowledgeable person than Carl Van der Meer.

Living and breathing Wairoa for over thirty-five years, Carl’s experience in the district is second to none with running his own business “Eastern Livestock” for 30 years and before this five years with Williams & Kettle. Carl is the first independent livestock buyer in Wairoa.

Carl completed a two-year Farm Cadets course a Guthrie Smith Trust Tutira Station and graduated with five papers in Agriculture TCI New Zealand. A qualified Auctioneer along with being an exceptional out-of-the-box thinker, he will be working both his `PGG Wrightson Real Estate' and 'Eastern Livestock' businesses side by side, bringing his clients a wealth of knowledge and giving him the best of both worlds.

A man of many caps, Carl is active in the community, being involved as a past president of the Hawke’s Bay Referees association for the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union, Chairperson for FTU (Friends of Te Urewera), supporter of Search and Rescue (SAR) and an avid fundraiser for many different charitable organisations.

Carl is married to Olga who is also a big part of the Wairoa family, she works as the advertising manager for the Wairoa Star, they have two married daughters, one is an architect and the other works in the medical industry in Perth, Western Australia.

Carl is an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, diving, hunting and camping in the Te Urewera, King Country and South Island. He also likes to spend time at his batch at Okere Falls by Lake Rotoiti.
