Modern lakeside homestead a great place to gather
A large, modern homestead with breath-taking northern views over Lake Karapiro is for sale.
Martin Lee of PGG Wrightson Real Estate, Cambridge is selling the 17 hectare property at Maungatautari, 17 kilometres east of Cambridge, 44 kilometres north east of Te Awamutu and 52 kilometres south east of Hamilton on behalf of Ange and Mike Alexander, who built the four bedroom home in 2014.
Ange says the family has made it a great place to gather.
“We have had some really cool celebrations here. It has a wonderful open feel and has been an amazing entertainer’s home for us. We have had some lovely times with family and friends, including several 50ths and 21sts through the years. It is a perfect area for gatherings.
“It has been ideal for our children for the age they were, bringing their friends over to hang out, with the pool, cricket nets, a games room, separate lounges, and the barbie area. It is a really functioning home, with lots of space and a relaxed easy place to be as they’ve grown up,” she says.
Ange grew up in the area herself, and came back when she and Mike saw the bare land for sale.
“We both fell in love with the area, the land and the panoramic views of the water and Maungatautari. We managed to build a home that makes the most of all of those inspiring elements,” she says.
While making a wonderful family home, being at peace with nature is also one of the property’s great qualities.
“After a busy, stressful day at work, there is nothing better than turning into the driveway and seeing the pheasants and quail going about their business, then coming over the hill to the house and feeling totally relaxed. You never tire of that ever-changing view of the lake, and the amazing tui, kingfisher and other bird life brings such calm to the end of the day,” says Ange.
Martin Lee says the homestead is centrally located on an elevated, sheltered site overlooking the well fenced and cared for block, which includes a long lake frontage.
“With the views and the lake, this property has huge ‘X factor.’ Two generous sized offices make working from home difficult to resist, while the heated outdoor entertainment areas with electric blinds, a large built in double barbecue, bar area with outdoor fire and salt water swimming pool all come together in an irresistible package.
“For those without family, the house also presents options as a B&B or hospitality business.
“While the 15 well-fenced, easy contour paddocks are currently leased to a neighbouring dairy farmer, there are other options, particularly for the horticulturally minded,” says Martin.
